Dayaar-e-Sukhan

Dayaar-e-Sukhan: Shabd Sangam is not just an event—it is a soulful confluence of literature, music, and poetic brilliance. Set in the vibrant city of Indore at Ravindra Natya Grah, this day-long festival is a heartfelt tribute to the spoken word and the written verse, drawing legendary names and rising voices from across India and beyond.

The journey begins with the melodic session “मेरी आवाज़ सुनो”, a soulful singing performance by Abhay Tyagi from Mumbai, setting a serene tone for the day. Laughter echoes next with Shoaib, the sharp and humorous voice of the session “अंदाज़ निराला है”, bringing stand-up comedy into poetic spaces.

One of the event’s most beautiful aspects is how it celebrates the new wave of poets who have emerged from the digital landscape. In the session “नए दीवानों को देखें तो ख़ुशी होती है”, young, vibrant poets Anant Gupta, Iqbal Yusuf, Yasmin Israr, and Amber Arondekar captivate with verses that resonate deeply with today’s generation. Following this, in “बादल और बरसात”, Badal Sharma, Jahanvi Sehgal, and Faizan Anjum bring the emotions of rain, longing, and memory to life through their poetry.

The richness of lyrical writing is explored in “सितारों से आगे जहाँ और भी हैं”, a powerful conversation between renowned lyricists and poets Tanveer Ghazi and Shakeel Azmi, moderated by Vishwas Vyas, as they delve into the craft of writing for cinema and society.

No literary celebration is complete without the spiritual ecstasy of qawwali. The session “जो डूबा सो पार” by Aftab Qadri brings this divine dimension, where music and poetry meet devotion in a mystical embrace.

The event also includes deeply engaging dialogues. The session “वो अपने अंदाज़ का अकेला है” features eminent writer, playwright, and novelist Asghar Wajahat in conversation with celebrated journalist and poet Pratap Somvanshi—a discussion that bridges storytelling across mediums. Followed by “हर कहानी मेरी कहानी है”, where acclaimed screenwriter and director Rumy Jafry reflects on his journey and craft with RJ Gaggan Mudgal from Dubai.

The crescendo of Dayaar-e-Sukhan is the grand Shab-e-Sukhan Mushaira, where legends of the Urdu and Hindustani poetic world take the stage. The night features voices like Manzar Bhopali, Rajesh Reddy, Shakeel Azmi, Tanveer Ghazi, Ateeq Anzar, Satlaj Rahat, Himanshi Babra, Ibrahim Ali Zeeshan, Ismail Raaz, Pankaj Dixit, Mehtab Alam, Devang Thakur, Qayamuddin Qayam, and Parul Singh Noor.

Hosting the evening is the eloquent Satlaj Rahat, ensuring every verse finds its rhythm and every voice its applause.

Dayaar-e-Sukhan is a poetic pilgrimage—where hearts listen, words flow, and silence becomes meaningful.
