Rajesh Reddy
Rajesh Reddy was born on July 22, 1952, in Nagpur, Maharashtra, and raised and educated in Jaipur, Rajasthan. After completing his M.A. in Hindi Literature from Rajasthan University, he worked for three years as a sub-editor for the Sunday edition Itwari Patrika of the Rajasthan Patrika newspaper. Alongside journalism, he was deeply involved in theatre in Jaipur for a decade, writing and directing plays—his play Bhoomika won the Best Drama Award at the All India Drama Competition organized by the Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Academy. Passionate about writing since his college days, he initially penned songs but eventually dedicated himself entirely to ghazals. His poetry has been featured in albums by legendary ghazal singers like Jagjit Singh, Pankaj Udhas, Bhupinder Singh, Rajkumar Rizvi, and Chhaya Ganguly. Musically inclined, he has also composed for stage productions based on Ghalib’s ghazals, Kabir’s dohas, and Jaydev’s Geet Govind. His contributions to television include songwriting and music composition for telefilms like Pathraai Aankhon Ke Sapne and serials such as Jazbaat, Halahal, Tere Mere Sapne, and Mod. In 1980, he joined All India Radio and retired in 2012 as Station Director of the Vividh Bharati Service, Mumbai.
