Shakeel Azmi
Shakeel Azmi (born 20 April 1971, Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh) is a prominent Urdu poet, lyricist, and scriptwriter, celebrated for his evocative ghazals and nazms. He entered Bollywood with Woh Tera Naam Tha (2005) and went on to write lyrics for films like Woh Lamhe, Nazar, Zeher, Thappad, Anek, and Bheed. His song “Ek Tukda Dhoop Ka” from Thappad earned a Filmfare nomination in 2021 and the Gujarat Urdu Sahitya Academy’s Gaurav Award.
In literature, Azmi has authored acclaimed poetry collections such as Dhoop Dariya, Ashtray, Raasta Bulata Hai, Khizan Ka Mausam Ruka Hua Hai, and Mitti Mein Aasmaan.
