Tanveer Ghazi
Tanveer Ghazi is a well-respected and trusted name in the world of Urdu poetry. His deep association spans literature, cinema, and the stage. Holding an M.A. and Ph.D. in Urdu, he is among the few young poets to have achieved remarkable popularity and success in a short time.
He began his poetic journey on the stages of mushairas and kavi-sammelans, performing not only across India but also in South Africa, the USA, Australia, Qatar, and the UAE. In films, Ghazi has worked selectively, penning lyrics for acclaimed movies like Pink, October, Hate Story 2, Kadak Singh, and Dear Ma. His poem “Tu Khud Ki Khoj Mein Nikal” in Pink, voiced by Amitabh Bachchan, became highly popular and earned him an IIFA Award nomination, along with other honors such as the Jagran Film Festival Award and the ITA Award.
His poetry collection Ishq Musafir, published by Vani Prakashan, was widely appreciated. For his literary contributions, he received the “Sahir Ludhianvi Award” from the Urdu Sahitya Academy of the Maharashtra Government.
In 2020, Tanveer Ghazi was honored with the International Award at Australia’s Parliament House — an award previously bestowed upon Sunil Dutt and Nargis. That same year in Sydney, he served as Chief Judge at the Miss Curves & Curls International Pageant 2020, featuring participants from various countries.
