Yasmeen’s poetic journey began in childhood, inspired by a natural affinity for reading and writing. She was raised in an orphanage that had an excellent library, which further fueled her passion for literature. Her love for poetry and prose grew hand-in-hand, and although she initially wrote immature and technically unstructured verses, her craft evolved significantly after she began learning under her mentor, Mahir Shedai Sahib, a respected figure in Urdu poetry. Under his guidance, she developed a deeper understanding of poetic technique and discipline.

Today, Yasmeen is known on social media by the name “Urdu Wali”. Her work aims to bridge the gap between common people and the Urdu language by dispelling misconceptions and reviving a genuine appreciation for its poetic beauty.
